The Every Other Day Diet is a weight loss system from trainer Jon Benson that claims you can eat junk foods like pizza, ice cream, and chocolate while still losing weight.

By showing you when and how to eat bad foods Mr. Benson claims this won't hurt your progress one bit. In fact, eating bad foods can actually help to elevate your metabolism.

However, eating bad foods doesn't just boost your metabolism, it also makes the diet much easier to stick to. We all know that weight loss doesn't happen overnight, so you need to find a plan you can stick to for the long-haul.

Since the Every Other Day Diet (EODD) lets you eat the foods you want, this is a great plan for those who have had cravings ruin past diets.

It should be obvious that you can't eat things like pizza and ice cream at every meal while still losing weight. But you can have treats like these on 2-3 days out of the week, provided you aren't eating a whole pizza or a whole tub of ice cream!

By intelligently incorporating bad foods you increase your metabolism and avoid cravings, both of which lead to better weight loss.

Is the Every Other Day Diet scam? Because it is a new program many people are worried there is some sort of EODD diet scam, but we found this to be a quality program.

Based on the name you would assume Fat Loss For Idiots is the easiest plan to follow.

In reality, it is slightly more complex than the other programs we looked at.

Fat Loss For Idiots advocates “shifting calories” which is similar to the approach in the Every Other Day Diet.

The idea is that by eating more calories on some days and less on the others you keep your body off balance and your metabolism elevated while avoiding the consistent hunger and cravings of other diet plans.

Unfortunately, since you need to shift calories on this diet, it also requires you to count them on a daily basis.

If you've ever done this you know that it can take some time, but the results from the program are definitely there if you are willing to put in the work.

Bottomline:

Solid and effective program, but calorie counting makes it not quite as easy to follow as our #1 selection.

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle

As you may have guessed from the title Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle has two goals:

1. Lose fat
2. Maintain (or gain) muscle

While the other programs we reviewed have these goals as well, none of them put the importance on maintaining or gaining muscle that Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle (BFFM) does.

Combined with the fact that the author, Tom Venuto, is a former bodybuiler, the focus on muscle makes this program particularly appealing to men.

However, everyone can benefit from increased muscle mass, as this creates a higher metabolism which will not only help you to lose weight, but keep it off as well.

For women it is important to follow the instructions in the book in order to create a lean and toned look, instead of simply adding more muscle.

Overall, the approach in BFFM is a solid one backed by science. But the workouts may be too advanced if you are just starting out.

However, if you have been working out then this program may be just what you need to take your body to the next level.

Bottomline:
